Naming Amelia

The origin of the name Amelia is Latin and means work or industrious. Oddly, each year the name has had a meteoric rise in popularity in the U.S. In 2006 Amelia actually rose to the list of the top 100 names given to females born in the U.S. These are the popularity ranks according to the U.S. Social Security: Administration:

2006    83rd
2007    77th
2008    70th
2009    69th
2010    68th
2011    41st
2012    15th

Wow, that means that in 2012 1 out of 15 girl babies are now named Amelia?? I remember as a kid I disliked my name, Amy. It doesn’t sound so bad to me now. Has anyone noticed how many schools, bridges, airports and streets are named Amelia Earhart now?
